all th comments here have been related to buying things online but the concept of eMarketing according to me means more than just buying, it also involves marketing which is a very big topic.
online, we use not only our space but also the space others are willling to offer in order to promote our ideas and products. this site also contains ads. it is a two process. we get revenue by the number of clicks that the posted ad gets at the same time the person whose ad is posted gets publicity, hence both are benefitted. this is the advantage of online marketing.
all sites serve more than one person, benefiting not only those who directly involved but also indirectly involved.
also what is important is that we don't try to get the users to our sites, but the aim should be to post ads where the users are.

it is true that there is a lot of scope for marekting through the web. it is very costly to get even little ad space on the popular websites.
certainly the most websites serve dual purpose or rather multi purpose.
